Stony Creek Parents Furious Over Loss of Fourth Grade Teacher

Stony Creek parents attend Monday's School Board meeting furious that Judy Harris, fourth grade teacher, had not been reinstated.

, parents again attended Monday’s School Board meeting furious that she still had not been reinstated.

Charlie Foster, a student in Harris’s fourth grade class, spoke to the board. He said Harris is “The fifth teacher I’ve had at in the past three years.” When he was in second grade, his teacher was fired shortly after the beginning of the school year.

“A lot of my friends in my class are really upset, too,” said Foster. “We all miss Miss H, we all love Miss H.”

John Ostroff of Blue Bell, and Foster’s father, said this is turning from the year Charlie will never forget into “that year that he’ll never understand.”

He said the new teacher has to read from the book to answer student questions and the students don’t have a routine any longer.

“You’re enforcing mediocrity and setting our kids back,” he said.

He said, “Judy is like a square peg in this administration’s round hole.” He said rather than following a cookie cutter approach to teaching, she follows her instinct and the student wants.

Andrew Moore, said, “On behalf of the parents, we ask for an explanation as to her suspension.”

“What we were given by this school district is a teacher with less than three years experience, who when the kids ask her a question, she has to look in the book to answer the question,” he said.

“It’s a disgrace, it’s embarrassing. Stony Creek is embarrassing. We’re embarrassed for the school district,” said Moore.

School board solicitor, Scott Wolpert, said this is a personnel matter and the board nor the district will comment.
