Strella MedSpa Hosts Formal Wear Donation Drive to Help Local Teens Attend Prom

Drive to benefit Operation PROM, help low-income students attend prom for little to no cost

While for some teenagers the prom serves as an annual rite of passage, for others, it is a major financial burden. To help teens in the Philadelphia area attend their proms without financial stress, Strella MedSpa, a leading aesthetic and plastic surgery center in Philadelphia, today announced it is hosting Operation Glass Slipper, a prom dress, tuxedo and accessories drive from March 19-20, 2015 at its Lower Gwynedd location, 1108 North Bethlehem Pike, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The drive will benefit Operation PROM, a non-profit organization that helps thousands of students across the U.S. attend their prom for little to no cost. Since inception in 2005, Operation PROM has sent more than 40,000 students to prom.

Operation PROM works with the Philadelphia Department of Education to identify schools and students in the area to receive donations. To be eligible, students must be recommended by their guidance counselor, passing all of their classes, and meet financial aid requirements. Parents may also apply on behalf of their children.

“Every teenager deserves to feel special at their prom – and no one should have to miss the prom because they can’t afford to go,” said Gail Norton, Strella’s General Manager. “We are thrilled to partner with Operation PROM to help area teens attend this annual event with pride.”

Operation PROM was established in 2005 to help low-income students attend their proms by providing free prom dresses and tuxedo rentals. It has since expanded to include regular donations of clothing and school supplies to students who are sick, homeless or living in shelters with no family assistance.
