This Sunday is St. Francis Day in Ambler

St. Francis Day, the one-day event in Ambler, will begin with mass at 1 p.m. at St. Francis, and finish with a traditional meal at the Sons of Italy lodge.

Sunday is the traditional St. Francis Day, hosted by the St. Francis Society of Ambler.

This year, according to a report from the Ambler Gazette, it will be a day-long event, rather than a two-day celebration.

The day begins with mass, beginning at 1 p.m., at at 16 S. Spring Garden St., followed by a procession through Ambler and the traditional Italian feast.

The procession this year will be different because of the closure of South Spring Garden St. The Ambler Gazette reports that the procession will most likely head down Ridge Ave. and then onto Butler Pike and straight down to the Sons of Italy lodge, where dinner will be served.

People can carry the saint to the lodge and then back to the church.
