Three Solebury School Seniors Earn Perfect Scores on Science & Math ACT/SAT

Ambler native Brad Greer '17 earned 36—a perfect score—on the Science section of the ACT. Less than 1% of students achieve this each year.

Solebury School is proud to announce that Ambler native Brad Greer '17 earned 36 — a perfect score — on the Science section of the ACT. He is joined by Chris O'Brian '17, who received an 800 on the math portion of the SAT test, and Cancy Han '17, who scored 36 on the Math section of the ACT. Each year less than 1% of high school seniors will earn a perfect score in any section.

"It’s a great feeling," Brad told us. "I was so relieved to find out I did well. I studied really hard for the ACT and it paid off," he said.

This year, Brad is taking Engineering 2 with teacher Dan Perez, AP Calculus BC with Mathematics Department Head Britta Milks, as well as Independent AP Computer Science with teacher Quinn Waters. Brad credits Quinn Waters and Dan Perez for getting him excited about science. “These two teachers are so amazing. They support my passion for science and even help me take it a step further,” said Brad. “Quinn let me use his office last year to let me work on my engineering projects (which was extremely helpful) and Dan let me experiment with the 3D printer and even took me to a course in Philly to learn more about science.”

Head of School Tom Wilschutz was pleased but not surprised when he learned of all three perfect scores. “We are really proud of our Math and Science departments. They work tirelessly to assure that Solebury students are achieving their highest scientific and mathematical potential. Whether the student desires an aggressive curriculum that provides enriching, challenging opportunities, or needs a program that will build their confidence and comfort level, our faculty work with the students to find the best fit their individual needs.”

Brad is currently applying to college and is deciding whether to pursue engineering or computer science/cybersecurity.
