  • Control spending – by looking at what may be decreased in the budget, Ullery explains.  She says she has seen the general budget, but not the detailed budget approved May 9 by the school board.  “I would look to see if maintenance costs or bussing costs could be cut.  I know some bus routes have already been consolidated with other districts to save money.”
  • Keep taxes low – “In the short term, I would look at spending to see what costs might be decreased,” Ullery says.  “Down the road, if inflation increases, we must be realistic that taxes might be increased,” she says.  Ullery makes clear she would vote against a tax increase, if other costs could be cut instead.
  • Maintain quality of education -- Ullery says she wants to “keep art and music programs because they are integral to education and students’ gifts.”  She adds, “I want to give equal opportunity to the jocks playing sports, and encourage students, whatever their endeavors may be.”
