Residents may have noticed there is less mowing occurring in Township parks and open spaces. Reducing manicured areas has been a focus for some time as less mowing has positive environmental impacts.

“Reducing mowing has several benefits beyond simply reducing our carbon footprint,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kurt Baker. “Taller grass and meadows also help improve water quality, creates habitats for wildlife, and could reduce downstream flooding.”
Informational signs are now posted in parks and open spaces to let residents know of the benefits of less frequent mowing.
