Wissahickon High School Launches Alumni Association
Wissahickon High School starts alumni association, holds annual alumni hall of fame induction.

principal, Lynn Fields, presented the plan for a new alumni association and hall of fame.
Judith Clark, Superintendent, said the alumni association will help keep Wissahickon graduates involved in the high school and the even after they graduate.
“[We want it to] become part of the fabric of Wissahickon High School,” said Clark.

Fields added that the district has found it difficult to get in touch with graduates.
She said the alumni association would help foster school spirit with the District’s alumni and be a valuable resource to the school community. She said alumni will be able to contribute time, money and help students and the faculty and administration look at careers that are out there.

“[They’ll be a] valuable tool to Wissahickon’s community,” said Fields.
Annually the high school will hold an alumni hall of fame induction ceremony. Last year, Katie O’Donnell was inducted into the Hall of Fame, but prior to that, no one had been inducted since 1996.
Lawrence Cannon, teacher at the high school who helped work on the alumni association and hall of fame, said they want to hold an induction ceremony every year, honoring an alumni, teacher, or even community member who has made “outstanding contributions” academically, athletically, or in community involvement.
The recognition ceremony will be held in the spring and nominations are being accepted now for this year’s inductee on the website.
“I think Wissahickon is long overdue for a structured alumni association like this,” said Fields.
Fields said she hopes for approximately 80 percent participation of alumni, with all new graduating classes automating registering for the alumni assocation.
