Wissahickon School Board Approves Administrator Contract

Contract gives at least CPI to administrators and staff.

The voted on the staff and administrators contract, with a final vote of 5 to 2, with Seth Grant and Patricia Latimer absent.

Marjorie Brown who voted against the contract, said she cannot support the contract because the teachers and the superintendent agreed to a one year pay freeze and the administrators and staff were not even asked to take a similar deal.

Richard Stanton rebutted, “As for the pay freeze…that’s lovely rhetoric…but we’re giving the teachers an eight percent [increase] and not giving the administrators [nearly that].”

“We couldn’t go a whole lot lower…so I’m getting a little tired of hearing about [a pay freeze],” he added.

Young Park, President of the Board, explained that increases were based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) based on the U.S. B Bureau of Labor Statistics. He said most administrators and staff will get at least CPI with the administrators contract. Under the contract CPI is 1.6 percent.
