Wissahickon School District Schedules May 9 Public Budget Workshop

The budget overview shows Wissahickon as the school district with the lowest tax increase of all Montgomery County districts in the last 10 years.

Over the last 10 years, Wissahickon School District has had the lowest tax increase of the 21 Montgomery County school districts, with an average increase of 2.69 percent.

Wissahickon School District had a zero percent increase in taxes during the 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2009-10 tax years. The two recent years that the district has seen tax increases, 2008-09 and 2010-11, the increases have been 1.81 percent and 1.03 percent, respectively.

At Monday’s meeting, the board laid out the timeline for completing the budget process, with the board approving the final proposed budget at the May 9 meeting, and approving the final budget June 13.

The budget will be available for public inspection at the Administration Offices between the May 9 approval of the proposed budget and the June 13 final budget.

By law, the board must approve and adopt a final budget by June 30.
