• Essential Energy, Stop Archbald Data Centers continue power plant debate (thetimes-tribune.com) — Archbald residents packed a Valley View High School hearing as borough council continued weighing a 400‑megawatt gas power plant proposed beside Staback Park and near local schools and homes. Opponents from Stop Archbald Data Centers pressed company experts on safety, pipeline routes, and whether conceptual plans meet Archbald's zoning standards, while a seventh conditional‑use hearing was scheduled for Oct. 27 in town.
• Fell Township residents question proposed 7,200-acre energy development (fox56.com) — A massive 7,200‑acre energy project being studied in northern Lackawanna County could place new gas‑fired power plants and data‑center infrastructure on an East Campus near Archbald and the Brownell Reservoir. Fell Township residents are already pressing PPL‑backed Invitium Energy about water use, safety, and transparency, concerns Archbald neighbors may share if sites near town move forward.
• Major defense company lands over $1 billion in fighter jet, missile-defense deals (oregonlive.com) — Lockheed Martin has landed over $1 billion in new defense work, including a major Navy fighter-jet contract that will be partly fulfilled at its Archbald facility through 2031. That long-term project helps secure high-skilled jobs in town while tying the local economy more closely to federal military spending and future defense budgets.
