0 Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Lower Merion Since Early July

Coronavirus deaths in Lower Merion have remained stable since early July, but new cases are still cropping up. See the latest data here.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Coronavirus-related deaths in Lower Merion Township have held steady since early July, but new cases are still being found daily.

According to the most data provided by Montgomery County, Lower Merion has seen 84 coronavirus deaths.

That number has remained the same since early July.

Of those deaths, one person was in their 40s, one person was in their 50s, four were in their 60s, 10 were in their 70s, 40 were in their 80s, and 28 were 90 and above. Additionally, 49 women and 35 men have died in Lower Merion.

The racial breakdown of deaths shows 31 have been white, 15 were Black, and 38 were "unknown," according to Montgomery County.

While no new deaths in more than two months is a good sign, the township is still seeing new cases.

To date, the township has had a total of 849 cases.

Below are case counts by age as of Thursday:

  • 0 to 9 — 20
  • 10 to 19 — 85
  • 20 to 29 — 120
  • 30 to 39 — 80
  • 40 to 49 — 95
  • 50 to 59 — 98
  • 60 to 69 — 99
  • 70 to 79 — 65
  • 80 to 89 — 112
  • 90 and older — 75

Very few Lower Merion residents who tested positive have been hospitalized. Data shows just 10 people have been hospitalized, but not died from the virus. Three people each in the 50 to 59 and 60 to 69 age brackets have been hospitalized; two have been in the 70 to 79 and 80 to 89 age brackets; and one in the 90 and older bracket.

The average age of Lower Merion residents infected with the virus is 52.3

Of the 849 cases, 382 have been men and 465 have been women. Two cases have not had the gender identified.

Overall, the county has seen 11,579 positive cases and 830 coronavirus-related deaths since March 7.
