Airborne Jeep Lands on Top of Cars at Dealership

A 74-year-old woman reportedly hit the gas instead of the brakes.

A multi-vehicle accident in Ardmore Tuesday morning is being blamed on a 74-year-old driver hitting the gas instead of the brakes.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday. The woman, driving a Jeep, was leaving nearby Arrow Car Wash when she hit the gas by mistake, police told 6ABC.

Her vehicle became airborne, NBC Philadelphia said, and landed on top of several cars at Piazza Acura of Ardmore, on the 100 block of West Lancaster Avenue.

Initial estimates indicate the crash caused about $80,000 worth of damage at the dealership, NBC said.

The woman, who has not been identified, had to be cut from her vehicle, 6ABC said. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

No one else was injured. The accident remains under investigation.
