Alligator Gar Fish Found In Main Line Pond: Police

A dead alligator gar fish, common to the Gulf of Mexico and Midwestern areas, was found dead in a Main Line Pond recently, police said.

MAIN LINE, PA — A terrifying-looking fish was found in a Main Line pond, about 1,000 miles away from its natural habitat, according to police

Radnor Township police said an alligator gar fish was found in the pond at Fenimore Park in Wayne this week.

A resident found the fish, which is common in the Gulf of Mexico and Midwestern area, dead in the pond.

Police said Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission officials said the fish was unable to survive in such cold water.

The fish was turned over to the commission for preservation and education.
