LOWER MERION, PA — Local officials are warning the public after a Lower Merion resident received an invoice from scammers impersonating the township.
The email included a "very official looking" invoice claiming the resident owed $4,800 to the township's Building Regulations Division, the township government said in an advisory.
Here's the scam invoice:
"The Township will NEVER send an email and include billing information to pay an invoice online," the township said. "Please always contact the Township to verify any such type of email you have received, BEFORE paying."
If you've fallen victim to a scam, you can report it by calling the Lower Merion Police Department at 610-649-1000.
