LOWER MERION, PA — Lower Merion Township's ban on gas-powered leaf blowing takes effect next week, when the use of gas leaf blowers will be prohibited until the fall.
Last year, the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners voted to phase out gas-powered leaf blower use, which will lead to a ban in 2029.
Before that, gas-powered leaf blowers will be prohibited during portions of each year.
Here's the timeline:
Electric-powered leaf blowing is allowed. But using gas-powered generators to run corded electric leaf blowers will be prohibited.
The restrictions apply to everyone, including landscapers working in Lower Merion.
