State Police Cpl. Imprisoned For Making AI Porn At Work, Secretly Filming Women In Montco

Stephen M. Kamnik was also sentenced for using a police database to obtain photos of women and children for sexual purposes.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A State Police corporal was sentenced Monday to prison for accessing children's photos for sexual purposes, secretly filming women, and using AI to make pornography of Pennsylvania residents.

A Montgomery County judge sentenced Stephen M. Kamnik to five to 10 years in prison, followed by seven years of probation. Kamnik, 40, must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life because Judge Todd Eisenberg deemed him a "sexually violent predator."

Investigators found that Kamnik misused State Police resources for sexual gratification, including creating AI-generated pornography of female Pennsylvania residents, according to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG).

Kamnik created some of the material at the State Police Montgomery County barracks in Skippack. Detectives seized his cell phone and an external hard drive from Kamnik's home and found evidence that he used a law-enforcement database to obtain hundreds of photos of women along with photos of children, authorities said.

The materials included an illegally recorded video of a judge during a court proceeding, which Kamnik edited for lewd purposes, the OAG said.

"This high-ranking public servant betrayed his oath and committed numerous crimes — many while on the job when he was supposed to be serving his community," said Attorney General David Sunday. "This conviction stains the many hard-working officers who abide by their oath and put their lives on the line every day to keep Pennsylvania safe."

Kamnik had secretly filmed several women he came into contact with, including while on-duty, officials said. That included repeatedly entering a women's locker room at the barracks and taking photos.

Investigators say they also found a stolen gun in his car.

State Police, in consultation with the OAG, charged Kamnik last year.

In April, Kamnik pleaded guilty to 14 charges:

Kamnik's listed attorney didn't immediately return comment.
