After the district secured 1860 Montgomery Ave. as the site for its new middle school, Spiezle Architectural Group was chosen to design it.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – An architectural firm has been tapped to design Lower Merion School District's new middle school, as the board voted to OK hiring Spiezle Architectural Group for the design process.
The vote came Monday, Sept. 24 at the regular board meeting.

The new school will be located at 1860 Montgomery Ave. in Villanova, a lot the district announced it had purchased this summer after much public outcry over the district potentially taking land in the Stoneleigh property.
Spiezle Architectural Group was chosen out of three potential firms and presented its design back on Sept. 6.

"We just felt that this was the group that most closely fit the kinds of issues that we think we're going to face as we move forward," LMSD Superintendent Robert Copeland said at the meeting during which Spiezel was approved.
The move to build a new school is the result of increased enrollment growth in the district, which is projected to continue increasing.
