Ardmore Author Writing Children's Book On Police Relations

ARDMORE, PA — In a time when police-community relations are tense, a local author is tapping into the community itself to help pen a children's book that seeks to bolster the relations.

Ardmore native Nahjee Grant is working on a book called "Aron Goes to the Police Academy Children's Book."

This book is part of a series that follows the titular Aron and his journeys.

"Watching everything that has gone on recently, I feel that the time for this is right: I am writing a children’s book that will examine and discuss police and community relations, covering a tough topic in a way that is lighthearted, fun, and clear," he said on the book's IndieGoGo page. "I want this book to become a go-to resource for organizations and police departments striving to work toward positive change."

Grant is seeking to raise $10,000 via IndieGoGo, a crowdfunding platform.

As of Monday, he has generated nearly $2,300.

By giving to the campaign, you can earn certain perks. For example, if you donate $250, you can be featured in the book.

Funds will be used to cover costs associated with publishing the book — such as illustrations, book formatting, ISBN number registration, proof printing, and curriculum production — and begin bringing it to bookshelves, as well as police departments.

Grant said the book "will draw heavily on the real-world work that I have done to bridge gaps between cops and the community, all while embracing the spirit of giving that I celebrate through my story time, book drive, and food drive initiatives."
