ARDMORE, PA — An era is coming to an end in more ways than one with Ardmore's Viva Video! set to close this month.

Viva Video! The Last Picture Store is one of the only video rental stores in the region and will close its doors Aug. 31.

The closure is much to the chagrin of movie buffs and cinephiles who tap into the nostalgia of looking through shelves for a movie to watch.

Now through Aug. 22, Viva Video! is hosting a sale of its entire collection.

All prices and all sales are final and those looking to buy some movies are asked to be patient, as off loading the inventory is a complicated, time-consuming process.

According to Fox 29, the store has about 20,000 films.

Owner Miguel Gomez opened the business at 16 W. Lancaster Ave in 2012.

"In that time, we managed to grow beyond a retail shop only because you believed in us," the business said in its closing announcement. "We held public screenings, all night VHS pizza parties, and managed to be featured in multiple documentaries as well as a pilot on national television! Our run has been unlikely, wonderful, hard, emotional and unique. This has always been more than just a business for us, and the way so many of you have contributed to this wonderful cinematic community has proven we've been more than a business to you."

Gomez is still hosting movie nights, with a handful slated through Sept. 8.
