Some Good News from Merion

City Line zoning ordinance tabled and no pesticides in Merion Park

While I'm waiting for a new painting to dry I thought I would share some good news on my Postcard from Merion.

First good news is that the zoning ordinance concerning the City Line area that is causing so much angst in the community has been tabled for the time being to get more feedback from the community.  This happened because people got together and protested the plan ... or lack of it.  This is the biggest change that we have had in our area for a long time and it behooves everyone to be familiar with what is being proposed and get out there and say their piece.

You can be sure those who own the real estate and will profit from a rezoning are doing just that.  The community must get involved in order to use this oportunity to benefit citizens, not just real estate conglomerates. Here are the stories and in the Main Line Times, with dates of meetings to attend at the end.

Another piece of good news is that those giant white carboys that are sitting on picnic tables in Merion Park are not filled with herbicides and pesticides as I feared but are actually filled with water for the new plantings.  This according to Lindsay L. Taylor, Director of the Department of Parks & Recreation.
