Led by the firm Kittelson & Associates, the plan aims to:

  • Articulate a community vision for the Ardmore commercial area;
  • Provide detailed zoning recommendations regarding street level uses, building heights, and sidewalk widths throughout the corridor to achieve the community vision and transition downtown Ardmore to a fully functioning 21st century mixed use environment;
  • Identify sizes and locations for signature public spaces and identify smaller areas throughout the corridor for gathering and/or greening to create a network of green spaces linked by public walkways; and
  • Identify opportunities to enhance multimodal transportation infrastructure in the study area. This includes integrating bus and rail facilities, and ongoing bicycle and pedestrian access initiatives into future plans to optimize transit use and improve bicycle and pedestrian access from North Ardmore to the business district.
  • Work with PennDOT, SEPTA, Ardmore Initiative and other entities to identify responsibilities and resources for additional amenities, greening, circulation improvements and maintenance within the study area.
