Capital Teas to Open Micro-Shop at Suburban Square

Fifth-Generation Tea Company Brings Specialty Teas to More Pennsylvania Shoppers

(January 2015) Capital Teas, one of the nation’s leading specialty tea providers, announces the opening of a newly renovated Suburban Square location (6 Coulter Avenue, #1000, Stall #6, Ardmore, PA 19003) in early spring. The new Capital Teas Tea Bar & Boutique will offer patrons unique hot and iced teas; signature hand-crafted tea infusions; organic, natural, and exotic loose teas and tea sachets; and a complete selection of modern tea-ware. This store will complement the growing presence of Annapolis-based Capital Teas (www.capitalteas.com, @capitalteas, #capitalteas) in the Philadelphia area, anchored by the Capital Teas store on Rittenhouse Square at 1801 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia.

A reflection of the strength of the specialty tea market and explosive growth in North America in 2015, Capital Teas received a $5M investment last year and has doubled the number of its stores with new locations in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Capital Teas first Philadelphia-area location opened in October 2015, and the company has decided to expand quickly throughout the region.

“We’re thrilled to extend our presence in Pennsylvania. Our Tea Bars & Boutiques represent a tremendous opportunity to forge our path in the national and international consumer goods landscape. The proximity to other innovative, thriving retailers in Suburban Square is unmatched,” said Peter Martino, CEO and co-founder of Capital Teas. “Tea is experiencing a modern-day revolution in the United States and is growing in appeal daily to people from all walks of life. We aim to inspire well-being every day with our amazing teas and to help educate everyone that enters our stores on the distinctive and nuanced flavors, the preparation, and the wonders of tea.”

Like all other Capital Teas locations, the Suburban Square store will provide an upscale, multi-sensory experience for customers. The company’s signature “sniffing wall” will dispense wafts of black, oolong, white and green teas, while knowledgeable employees stand ready to explain each tea’s characteristics.

A haven for tea lovers and novices alike, Capital Teas carries more than 200 loose teas on its website, many of them certified organic. Their teas and infusions hail from 18 countries including Kenya, Sri Lanka, China, India, and Japan. All tea selections are hand-selected by Peter and his wife and co-founder, Manelle Martino, who traces a 5-generation family heritage in the tea trade. The company also handcrafts its own unique tea blends.
