Celebrate Juneteenth Next Weekend In Ardmore
Juneteenth celebrates the day the last slaves in Galveston, Texas were notified of their emancipation.
ARDMORE, PA — Ardmore is hosting a Juneteenth celebration next weekend.
Vernon V. Young Memorial Park in Ardmore will host the event on Saturday, June 18.
The celebration will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Although the Emancipation Proclamation took effect in 1863, it was not until June 19, 1865 that enslaved people in Texas were finally freed.
