Community Raising Money For Late Firefighter Tom Royds's Family
Thomas Royds died after being struck by a woman accused of driving under the influence. Now, the community is looking to support his family.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion Fire Department is coping with the second death of a member in less than a month's time, as Thomas Royds died while on duty recently and Sean DeMuynck died after being injured in a house fire. But with the mourning comes a showing of support from those Royds and other first responders serve.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support Royds's family.
"We are devastated by the loss of Firefighter Thomas Royds who died in the line of duty on July 24th, 2021," organizer Scott Friedman wrote on the page. "Tommy gave his life serving and protecting the public and his fellow firefighters. Join us as we work to support Tommy's family and honor the sacrifices that he made for all of us. All funds raised will go directly to Tommy's family."
