Conflicts Turn Ugly, Two Suspected Incidents of Aggravated Assault

Separate confrontations warranted police involvement in recent township cases.

Two separate incidents, one involving an attacker armed with a baseball bat, led to recent police involvement in Ardmore, according to Lower Merion police reports released Tuesday, Sept. 7.

On Aug. 30 at 1:42 p.m., a resident on the 100 block of Walnut Avenue in Ardmore answered the door to three men, one of whom the resident recognized, according to police. After letting the three men inside the residence, the resident was beaten with fists over a disagreement involving money, police said.

The incident was classified as strong arm robbery and assault by Lower Meron police. As of Tuesday, Sept. 7 the primary suspect had not yet been arrested.

In an unrelated incident on Friday, Sept. 3 at 1:52 a.m., a resident of the 800 block of West Lancaster Avenue was beaten with a baseball bat following a confrontation, according to police.

The victim was beaten with witnesses present, who were able to obtain a license plate number for the attacker, according to police. Officers in Upper Darby stopped the vehicle and arrested the individual, who claimed to act out of self-defense, according to the Lower Merion police report. As of Tuesday, Sept. 7, the investigation was ongoing and assault charges were pending in the case.
