Congressional Candidate Visits Site Of Recent Wynnefield Shooting

Dan Muroff is trying to raise awareness of gun violence after two men were shot, one fatally, near St. Joseph's University.

WYNNEFIELD -- Dan Muroff, a Democrat who is running to replace Chaka Fattah, visited the location of a shooting on City Avenue in Philadelphia's Wynnefield neighborhood on Monday, his campaign announced in a press release.

The incident occurred last Thursday evening. Two men were shot, one fatally, just down the street from St. Joseph’s University.

“In the parking lot of a bar just off the campus of St. Joseph’s University, two men tragically became another statistic in our growing gun violence epidemic,” Muroff said. “There isn’t a corner of this city or country that hasn’t been impacted by gun violence."

According to reports, one man was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Bala Inn, on 5004 City Avenue, just a half a mile from St. Joseph’s University, bordering Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County.

As part of his campaign for Congress from Pennsylvania’s Second District, Muroff is visiting several sites of gun violence in the district each week, highlighting the lives that are lost.
