Do Not Put Plastic Bags In With Recycling: Lower Merion Township

A short shows video how plastic shopping bags affect the township's recycling when they are in with mixed items. Watch it here.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – In hopes of eliminating plastic shopping bags ending up in Lower Merion residents' recycling, the township released a short informational video on the topic recently.

Video features Mike Hays, who serves on the township's Environmental Advisory Council, who goes into detail on how the plastic bags hinder the township's recycling operations.

Hays says while the bags are handy for holding mixed recyclables, they jam equipment used by the township during recycling processes.
