Environmental Council's 'Go For The Green' Award Winners Named

Congratulations to these stellar environmental stewards who will be honored at the May 17 awards ceremony at Appleford in Villanova.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Lower Merion Township's Environmental Advisory Council recently announced the winners of the 2018 "Go For The Green" awards, which recognize residents, businesses, organizations and schools in Lower Merion Township and Narberth Borough to raise environmental awareness.

All winners will be honored at an upcoming awarded ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 17 at Appleford, 770 Mt. Moro Road in Villanova.

  • Joseph M. Manko Lifetime Achievement Award — Michael Stokes

Presented to an individual or group that makes a long-term significant impact on environmental issues such as improvement, protection, and awareness of the environment. This award was named for former Lower Merion Township Board President and Ward 9 Commissioner Joseph M. Manko, Esq., whose environmental endeavors as both an attorney and a community leader have impacted the quality of life in Lower Merion now and for future generations

  • Resident – Orsolya Lazar

An individual or resident living in the Township or Narberth Borough.

  • Commercial— Mom’s Organic Market, Bryn Mawr

Businesses located in or providing services in Lower Merion Township or Narberth Borough

  • Organization - NarbEarth Day Committee/Narberth Civic Association

Nonprofit entities or citizens’ groups in Lower Merion Township or Narberth Borough

  • Organization - Tired Hands Volunteer Corps

Nonprofit entities or citizens’ groups in Lower Merion Township or Narberth Borough

  • Educational - Deaver Wellness Farm

Schools, universities, affiliated student or youth organizations and educational providers in Lower Merion Township or Narberth Borough.

  • Educational - Dr. Jeannette Dumas, Rosemont College

Schools, universities, affiliated student or youth organizations and educational providers in Lower Merion Township or Narberth Borough.

  • Site Greening— Bruce Gill, Harriton House

A property that has been enhanced through greening efforts such as the installation of trees, shrubs and other plant material, the reduction in impervious paving, or other improvement to the outdoor environment thereby improving the site ecologically and aesthetically

  • Sustainability - Jennifer Pavao

Any person, organization, business or institution that has furthered sustainable practices in the TownshipLower Merion Township or Narberth Borough.
