Penn Wynne Library 5-K race/walk

The Penn Wynne Library announces its twelfth annual 5 K Race, for people of all ages and physical abilities. The race will be held this year on Saturday, October 13, at 9 AM. It begins at the Library, 130 Overbrook Parkway. Entrants may either walk or run, for either all or part of the course. Strollers are welcome. The top three female and male runners overall will receive trophies and the top finisher in each age group receives a medal; the first 200 registrants will receive a free t-shirt and all children will get an award.

Other activities will be occurring simultaneously in front of the library building and in the church yard next door: arts and crafts, therapeutic massage, face painting, and a moon bounce. This year’s MC for the race activities is Karen Hepp, co-anchor of Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia. Hepp joined the station in November, 2010 as general assignment reporter. Before that, she worked at WNYW-TV, anchoring Good Day Wakeup. She joined Fox 5 in January 2005 as the weekend anchor. Previously, she worked at WNBC in New York, WCAU in Philadelphia, and WVIT in Connecticut.

In conjunction with the race, this year we will once again hold our neighborhood favorite—the pasta dinner! Catered by Boston Pizza (with additional food from other sources), it will be held on the night before, Friday October 12, at 6:30 pm, in the Presbyterian Church at the corner of Manoa and Haverford Roads. And the price hasn’t changed: entrance fee will be $10. for adults and children over 10 years old; children under 10 enter free!
