Ex Main Line Commissioner Now Facing Federal Child Porn Charges

Former Radnor Township Commissioner Philip Ahr now faces federal child porn charges, according to a recently unsealed federal indictment.

About a week after the trial date for the former Main Line commissioner who is facing a litany of charged related to child pornography was announced, a federal indictment was unsealed showing he also faces federal child pornography charges.

The federal indictment charges former Radnor Township Commissioner Philip Ahr – whose online monikers allegedly were "DaddyX" and "DaddyXX" – with two counts each of distribution and attempted distribution of child pornography and receipt of child pornography, as well as one count of possession of child pornography. The incidents leading to the charges span from 2013 to 2017, according to the indictment.

These federal charges add to the 130 total charges related to child pornography filed in Delaware County.

According to the indictment, Ahr, 66, must also forfeit two Dell desktop computers; a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer; an iPad Air; a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone; and 80 gigabyte hard drive; and a USB flash drive.

On top of the physical forfeitures, the indictment stipulates Ahr must turn over "any film, videotape, or other matter which contains any such visual depiction, which was produced, transported, mailed, shipped, or received" relating to material involving the sexual exploitation of minors; "any property, real or personal, constituting or traceable to gross profits or other proceeds obtained" relating to material involving the sexual exploitation of minors; and "any property used or intended to be used, in any manner or part, to commit, or to facilitate the commission of" the sexual exploitation of minors.

Ahr, who was free on 10 percent of $10,000 bail in the original Delaware County case, has been issued a federal arrest warrant. His custody status is unknown at this time.

Ahr is slated to appear in a Delaware County court on April 23 for the trial in his case where he faces 130 total charges related to child pornography.

Ahr waived his preliminary hearing in late November last year, meaning the 10 counts of disseminating child pornography, 50 counts of child pornography possession, 60 counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and 10 counts of attempted dissemination of child pornography were held over for the looming trial.

Ahr, of the Rosemont section of Radnor Township, was arrested Oct. 11 by Delaware County authorities following the announcement of a county-led investigation of unknown origin targeting Ahr in late September.

He later resigned as the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners president, a position he was elected to in July 2017. However, he maintained his seat as the township's Ward 7 commissioner.

Then in early November, Ahr resigned his role with the board entirely, leaving his seat vacant.
