Harry Knorr Funeral Procession To Affect Lower Merion Traffic

The funeral procession for the former fire chief Harry Knorr will affect traffic along Haverford Road the morning of​ Friday, Sept. 13.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — As the Lower Merion community pays tribute to former Fire Chief and Marshal Harry Knorr Friday, some reads in the area will be affected.

Knorr's funeral procession will affect traffic along Haverford Road Friday, Sept. 13.

Traffic will see impacts between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., the township said.

Officials say drivers should avoid Haverford Road between Remington and Manoa roads during those hours.

Traffic on Haverford Road in that area will be reduced to one lane from 8 a.m. until at least 9:30 a.m.

Police will be on scene directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic to and from Penn Wynne Elementary School and Presentation BVM Church, where the funeral will be held.

Knorr died Sept. 8. He was 85 years old.

He served as the township's chief fire officer and fire marshal from 1983 until 2005 when he retired.

Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stretch Funeral Home, 236 E. Eagle Road in Havertown, and again at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at Presentation BVM Roman Catholic Church, 240 Haverford Road in Wynnewood.

A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment is private.
