I-76 Lanes Closing Overnight In Lower Merion This Week

Crews will be installing an Intelligent Transportation System overnight, forcing lanes in both directions to close in the Lower Merion area.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Overnight lane closures will affect traffic on Interstate 76 in Lower Merion this week, according to PennDOT.

Drivers will encounter an overnight lane closure in both directions from Belmont Avenue to just west of the Gladwyne Interchange in Lower Merion Township this week.

PennDOT said crews will be installing an Intelligent Transportation System in the area.

The work schedule is:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 19, through Thursday, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on eastbound and westbound I-76;
  • Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23, from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76; and
  • Sunday, November 24, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning a single lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76.

In addition, periodic weekdays shoulder closures will remain in place on I-76 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various locations between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Montgomery Drive in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel in the work area because backups and slowdowns will occur.
