I-76 West In Lower Merion Getting Lane, Shoulder Closures

PennDOT said crews will be installing an Intelligent Transportation Systems later next week, forcing overnight lane and shoulder closures.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Drivers on Interstate 76 west in Lower Merion will encounter lane and shoulder closures next week for PennDOT work, PennDOT said.

A lane and shoulder closure will be in place from just west of the Gladwyne Interchange/Waverly Road to the Interstate 476 Interchange.

The closures will be in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7. Additionally, the lane and shoulder will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Crews will be installing an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

In addition, periodic weekday shoulder closures will remain in place on I-76 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various locations between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Montgomery Drive in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel in the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur.
