Just 1 PA County Has Substantial Risk Of COVID Spread: New Data
Ten PA counties now have a low risk of coronavirus spread and 56 have a moderate risk. The state's positivity rate also dipped again.
PENNSYLVANIA — Just one county in Pennsylvania now has a substantial risk of coronavirus spread, according to new data released by the state Wednesday. The numbers also show the state's positivity rate and case count have dropped as the vaccination rates increase.
For the week ending May 28, 10 counties had a low level of transmission and 56 had a moderate level of transmission. Wyoming County is the only one in Pennsylvania that continues to have a substantial risk of coronavirus spread.
Counties with a moderate risk of transmission are Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Berks, Blair, Bradford, Bucks, Butler, Cambria, Carbon, Centre, Chester, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Crawford, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lawrence, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Somerset, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Venango, Washington, Wayne, Westmoreland, and York.

Low-risk counties are Cameron, Clarion, Elk, Forest, Fulton, Montour, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Warren.
The state's latest update also shows new cases are slowing significantly as vaccination rates continue to increase.

The most recent seven-day case increase was 4,811 new cases. The previous seven-day increase was 7,240. That's 2,429 fewer new cases across the state over the period of a week.
As for Pennsylvania's positivity rate: it went down from 4.5 percent to 3.8 percent. Forty counties have a positivity rate lower than 5 percent and no counties have a 20 percent positivity rate.
"COVID is tough, but together Pennsylvanians are tougher. Pennsylvania continues to see positive trends – low case counts and increased vaccinations every day," Gov. Tom Wolf said. "Over 50 percent of Pennsylvanians are fully vaccinated and that number continues to increase."
On Monday, the state lifted all of its coronavirus mitigation orders. The mask order will remain in place until June 28 or until 70 percent of Pennsylvania adults are vaccinated, whichever comes first.
