Kobe Bryant Memorabilia Stolen From Lower Merion High School

School officials said the crime did more sentimental damage than monetary damage.

Kobe Bryant's alma mater, Lower Merion High School, was hit by a burglary recently, as someone took several items of Bryant's memorabilia from outside the high school gym – Bryant Gymnasium.

Former Los Angeles Laker’s framed high school jersey, the 1996 PIAA Boys Basketball State Championship trophy and net, and several pairs of Nike sneakers signed Bryant were stolen from outside the gym.

The items were inside a display case outside the gym.

In an email sent to the school community, district officials said the crime did more sentimental damage than monetary damage.

"They represent a wonderful time of accomplishment, unity and pride for our school community — the 1996 state championship — and celebrate an alumnus who has made lasting contributions to our school and the sports world," Lower Merion High School Principal Sean Hughes said in his message to the school community. "We are saddened and angered that our school has been vandalized, but we are grateful that no one was harmed during the incident last night."

Lower Merion Police are investigating the crime and are reviewing security footage of the school's exterior and interior.
