LMSD To Have Week Of Virtual Learning After Winter Break

Going virtual after winter break will allow out-of-state travelers to quarantine for seven days before returning to schools.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion School District is shifting back to all digital learning for the upcoming holidays.

According to Superintendent Robert Copeland, all classes in the district will move to virtual learning on Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Students will be on winter break from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1.

After winter break, the district will keep the virtual learning model Jan. 4 through Jan. 8.

However, during that week special education students who have been identified by their IEP teams as requiring in-person instruction will return to schools on Jan. 4.

All students will return to in-person learning on Jan. 11.

Copeland said the shift to fully virtual learning will allow out-of-state travelers to quarantine for seven days before returning to schools, as currently required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and recommended by the CDC.

Copeland urged members of the school district community to wear masks, wash hands frequently and maintain distance from anyone outside their household.
