LMSD Hosting Literacy Overview Presentation Tuesday
Parents are invited to learn how district students are taught and assessed.

The Lower Merion School District's Interschool Council is hosting a presentation Tuesday morning where the public will get a overview of the district's literacy assessments, curriculum, and more at it's October Hot Topic session.
The presentation begins at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 11 at the Lower Merion Academy Building at 506 Bryn Mawr Ave., Bala Cynwyd.
Elementary Supervisor of Literacy Dr. Lorraine DeRosa and Secondary Supervisor of Literacy Dr. Leslie Pratt will give attendees and over of the literacy in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. The pair will discuss reading and writing programs, discuss assessments used, explain literacy resources, describe the role of teacher- and student-choice in text selection, and provide strategies that highlight how parents can support children’s literacy development.

The presentation will conclude with a discussion of the possibility of "parent book talks" related to the Strategic Plan.
