LMSD Students Mark Progress On New Middle School Construction
Third and fourth grade elementary students who will be among the first in the new middle school signed structural beams during construction.
VILLANOVA, PA — Progress on the new middle school in the Lower Merion School District was marked by a beam signing last week.
The district held a topping out ceremony on June 3 at the site of the new Lower Merion Middle School in Villanova, where third and fourth graders from Penn Wynne and Gladwyne elementary schools signed structural beams on their new school.
Located at 1860 W. Montgomery Ave. in the Villanova section of Lower Merion Township, the new school is scheduled to open in September 2022.

It will be the third middle school in the district, in addition to Bala Cynwyd and Welsh Valley middle schools.
The new school will feature multiple gyms, a theater with retractable seating in the public areas right off the main entrance, a main atria area where students can congregate to socialize and collaborate, multi-purpose field, a practice field, track, and tennis courts.

The district said in the new school, traditional classrooms will be replaced by "learning communities," which the district describes as flexible spaces for either large-group team teaching, small group instruction, or student collaboration.
