Lower Merion Businesses Coping During Coronavirus Outbreak

Businesses in Ardmore, Merion, and Wynnewood are handling the Gov. Tom Wolf's order is various ways. See what they are doing here.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Businesses in Lower Merion are taking different approaches to the order issued by Gov. Tom Wolf to have all restaurants and bars in Allegheny, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties to close their dine-in facilities as of Monday.

Additionally, all non-essential retail businesses in Montgomery County have been told to close. This includes gyms, theaters, malls, salons, entertainment venues, and community centers.

Essential retail, like pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, and healthcare facilities, will remain open.

In Lower Merion, businesses are reacting to the order and to the local outbreak of the illness.

The Ardmore Music Hall said it is closed indefinitely and all March shows are postponed.

Ticket holders will be notified by email on what will come next regarding postponed shows and April shows.

As for Tired Hands, one of the area's most popular breweries, they are focusing on to-go beer sales only at its Ardmore locations. The General Store will be open during regular hours and can from the Fermentaria will be offered on the sidewalk starting at noon each day.

Tired Hands' beer will also be available through their direct-to-consumer beer delivery platform, Dudley Direct. It's online store will stay open, including the ability to purchase e-gift cards.

The Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society said it will be close for about 11 days in compliance with Wolf's order.

The Annual Meeting on March 27 has been canceled, vote will take place via email. The Test Session scheduled for April 5 is cancelled, while Boots & Blades scheduled one April 26 and the Casino Night Fundraising Gala have both been postponed with no rescheduling date set for either.

Stoltzfus Family Foods is closed Monday for a deep cleaning. The market will reopen Tuesday.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience, but we believe this is a necessary precaution to help stop/slow the spread of the virus," the market said on social media. "Thank you all for your patience and stay safe!"

Iron Hill Restaurant and Brewery in Ardmore said it is offering curbside pickup for orders made over the phone started at 4 p.m. Monday.

The establishment said it will offer a limited menu and amended hours, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, during the crisis.

"Being a part of this community is ingrained in who we are as a restaurant, and we want to be there for you just like you’ve supported us over the years," Iron Hill said on Facebook. "So whether you’re looking for a family dinner or just a quick bite, we will be here. The situation is a fluid one, and we will make any adjustments based on any further guidelines given by the authorities."

Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union's location at 551 Lancaster Ave. is open.
