Lower Merion Coronavirus Cases Top 740; Deaths Hover In Mid 80s

Nearly two dozen new cases have been identified since last week, but no additional deaths have been reported since early July.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — While cases of the coronavirus in Lower Merion continue to pop up, deaths related to the virus are not increasing.

According to the latest coronavirus data provided by Montgomery County, Lower Merion has seen nearly two dozen additional cases of the virus in the last week.

Since Aug. 7, 20 new cases have been identified, bringing the township's total case count to date to 740.

Below are case counts by age as of Friday:

  • 0 to 9 — 13
  • 10 to 19 — 53
  • 20 to 29 — 87
  • 30 to 39 — 74
  • 40 to 49 — 84
  • 50 to 59 — 91
  • 60 to 69 — 94
  • 70 to 79 — 59
  • 80 to 89 — 110
  • 90 and older — 75

The average age of Lower Merion residents who contract the virus is 55.

Of the 740 cases identified to date, 409 have been women and 330 have been men. The gender for one case has not been identified.

While the case count is still climbing, albeit slowly, Lower Merion's deaths coronavirus death toll has remained steady.

No new deaths have been reported in the township since July 8. As of Friday, 84 people in the township died from the virus.

Of those deaths, one person was in their 40s, one person was in their 50s, four were in their 60s, 10 were in their 70s, 40 were in their 80s, and 28 were 90 and above. Additionally, 49 women and 35 men have died in Lower Merion.

Montgomery County overall has seen 10,146 cases and 823 deaths since March 7.
