Lower Merion Elementary Schools Among PA's Best: Study

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — School is back in session, and Niche.com recently released its list of the best elementary schools here in Pennsylvania for 2019. And the Lower Merion School District has cause to be proud.

The Merion and Cynwyd elementary schools came in at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively on the list.

Penn Wynne got a No. 9 ranking, while Penn Valley came in at No. 21 and Gladwyne at No. 27.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche said it looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings and the overall quality of the school district.

The methodology for each category of rankings varied with some factors having a higher weight for certain categories over others.

Nearby, Radnor Township School District's Ithan Elementary earned the top spot, coming in at No. 1.
