Lower Merion High School Ranked Among PA's Top 10: U.S. News

Lower Merion High School was ranked among the state's top 10 high schools and the best of all Montgomery County high schools.

ARDMORE, PA — Once again, Lower Merion High School placed among the top schools in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

The school ranked 10th overall in the state in the latest ranking, which compares more than 17,800 public high schools nationwide. It was ranked No. 503 nationwide, as well.

Lower Merion High School was the highest ranked out of all Montgomery County high schools.

Nearby, Radnor High School was ranked No. 4 in the state and sister school Harriton High School was ranked No. 13.

Haverford High School came in at No. 21.

Other high ranking Montgomery County schools included Wissahickon High School ranked 12th, Lower Moreland 23rd, Spring-Ford 31st, Upper Dublin 38th, and Plymouth-Whitemarsh 46th.

The top 600 included 15 schools from across Pennsylvania. Just two cracked the top 50. The top-ranked Pennsylvania school was Philadelphia's Julia Masterman Academy, coming in at 18th overall. It was followed by Downingtown STEM at 34th; these were the only schools that cracked the top 200 in the national ranking.

The methodology used for this year's ranking focused on six factors: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
