Lower Merion Making Plans To Transition To New Middle School

The new middle school is slated to open in September 2022 and officials are now making plans to transition students.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion School District is beginning to make plans to introduce students to the new middle school set to open in September 2022.

Superintendent Robert Copeland Wednesday presented a proposal on how students will transition into the new school, as well as how other schools will transition from the K-5 elementary/6-8 middle school model to the future K-4 elementary/5-8 middle school model.

On Monday, Copeland will present the proposal to the full Lower Merion Board of School Directors. That meeting will be held in person at 8 p.m. in the Lower Merion High School Auditorium with limited capacity.

Following the meeting, a community survey will launch on Tuesday to gain feedback from the school community. The survey will be available here. Community members can also share feedback by emailing communitycomments@lmsd.org.

The survey will close on Tuesday, June 1.

Then the board is expected to vote on the proposal on June 14
