Lower Merion Police Department To Host Drive-Thru Food Drive

The event will be held in place of the National Night Out Festival and will benefit ElderNet of Lower Merion and the Narbeth Food Pantry.

WYNNEWOOD, PA — The Lower Merion Police Department will host a drive-thru food drive on Tuesday that will benefit ElderNet of Lower Merion and the Narbeth Food Pantry and that will be held in place of the annual National Night Out Festival.

The food drive will be held from 4-7 p.m. in the police department parking lot, which is located at 71 E. Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore. Local residents are invited to drop off non-perishable food but are asked not to leave their vehicle as a precaution under guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as they relate to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

National Night Out is now in its 37th year and is recognized in 16,000 communities across all 50 states.

After dropping off their food donation and receiving some giveaway items, residents will drive back out onto Lancaster Ave. at Rittenhouse Place. Members of the Lower Merion Fire Department and Narbeth Ambulance will also be on hand supporting the effort.

“This is a great way for the community and first responders to come together in a COVID world and assist the ElderNet Food Pantry,” Matt Peskin, creator of National Night Out and President of Lower Merion Community Watch said in a news release. “Many cities and towns here and across the country have been forced to cancel their NNO this year because of the virus. We’ve come up with something that we think keeps the spirit of NNO going and will be a win-win all the way around.”
