Lower Merion Police Hosting Drug Take Back Day Oct 24
Police in Lower Merion Township are joining numerous other Montgomery County police departments in hosting a drug take back day this month.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Lower Merion Township are joining nearly four dozen other police departments in Montgomery County to host a Drug Take Back Day later this month.
Residents will be able to clean out their medicine cabinets of unwanted, unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications and dispose of them easily in a safe, environmentally friendly way at the event.
Drugs can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Lower Merion Police Department, 71 E. Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore.

Accepted during Drug Take Back Day (and throughout the year at permanent MedReturn boxes) are:
- prescription and over-the-counter tablets and capsules;
- inhalers;
- creams;
- ointments;
- nasal sprays;
- pet medicines;
- and vaping products.
Needles and intravenous/injectable solutions will not be accepted.

Ridding medicine cabinets of these medications is an important step for the safety of all households, officials said.
The Drug Take Back Day coincides with the DEA’s nationwide Take Back Day
"Through this pandemic, the overdoses and overdose deaths have continued. Clearing out medicine cabinets and bathroom cupboards of unwanted and expired medicines is an essential step to keeping your home safe," District Attorney Kevin Steele said. "Mask up, drive up and drop off those medicines safely, then township police officers, state troopers and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau will make sure that they are disposed of in an environmentally safe way."
