Lower Merion Police Increasing Patrols Amid Philly Unrest
Due to protests, looting, and violence in Philadelphia, police in Lower Merion have increased patrols throughout the township.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Lower Merion Police have ramped up patrols in the township on the heels of protests, looting, and violence in Philadelphia after the police killing of Walter Wallace Jr.
According to police, starting Monday night patrols were increased along City Avenue.
Police said several commercial burglaries occurred at the Bala Shopping Center at about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday.

After getting inside, the burglars stole unknown amounts of merchandise, police said.
Several people were arrested Wednesday night for looting on City Avenue after breaking into a Rite Aid, Lord & Taylor, and a cell phone store, Action News reports.

Additionally, police said they will keep increased patrols around the township.
Police said they are unaware of any protests or demonstrations planned in the township, but are prepared to handle any events should they occur.
"To our community members, please be assured that the safety of all persons and property in the Township are our highest priority and all necessary actions are being taken to address the current situation."
