Lower Merion School District Gets More State Funding In New Budget

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion School District is getting more funding in the 2023-24 state budget.
According to budget documents, the 2023-24 basic education allotment for the district is $5,715,811.
That's more than 12 percent higher than the 2023-23 allotment.

In the previous year, the district got $5,089,301.
The boost totals $626,510, which is a 12.31 percent increase.

Additionally, the district is getting an increase in state funding for special education.
The 2023-24 budget includes $3,332,688 in special education funding for the Lower Merion School District.
That's 2.7 percent more than the 2022-23 allotment, which was$3,245,393.
Pennsylvania's 2023-24 budget has a total $567 million increase in basic education funding across the state.
$50 million of the budget is going to districts all over Pennsylvania for special education.
Lastly, the Lower Merion School District is getting $240,611 in Ready to Learn Block Grant funds in the 2023-24 budget.
