Lower Merion School District Holds TEDx Talk

Lower Merion, PA -- Lower Merion School District students independently organized a TED talk, which took place recently at Harriton High School's Blackbox Theater, the school district said.

Speakers from multiple disciplines spoke on the year's theme, which analyzed how thinkers are conceptualizing and solving issues in society today, according to the district.

Lower Merion said that the speakers included:

• Dr. Dafna Ofer, Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University Pennsylvania, specializing in adult, pediatric and adolescent sleep disorders; D
• Dustin Albert, Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology at Bryn Mawr College, who investigates social and biological influences on the development of self-regulation, with a focus on identifying factors underlying risk taking and anti-social behavior among adolescents;
• Lower Merion High School teacher Mark Levy, whose Master’s thesis explored the dangers of moral relativism at all levels of education; Harriton alumnus Phil Hayes, a recent New York University graduate, entrepreneur, web designer and current Data Scientist at Twitter;
• Simon Hauger, an engineer turned educator who began the Hybrid X Team at West Philadelphia High School whose students have won multiple national competitions with their hybrid vehicles.

The student planning team included Jen Crainic, Kyleen Considine and Whit Castiglioni.
