Lower Merion Schools Among Best In PA, US: Niche

See how the Lower Merion School District and its high school stack up against others in Pennsylvania and the nation, according to Niche.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — It's no secret the Lower Merion School District is a highly-sought after place for suburban kids to attend school.

So how does it stack up against other school districts in the state and nation?

Education platform Niche recently released its lists of the best school district and best high schools.

When it comes to Pennsylvania, the Lower Merion School District is the fourth best. Nationally, it is ranked 42nd.

The district earned an overall A+ grade from Niche.

Niche graded the district's academics, teachers, clubs and activities, and college prep with A+.

Diversity earned a B and administration an A.

According to Niche, the district enrollment is 8,603 and has a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1.

Niche says state test scores show 79 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 88 percent in reading.

As for Lower Merion School District's high schools, both were in the top 10 in Pennsylvania.

Lower Merion High School was ranked No. 5 in the state and Harriton High School No. 6.

Nationally, LMHS was No. 172 and Harriton No. 182.

Both schools earned overall A+ grades.

Lower Merion got A+ in academics, clubs and activities, and college prep; A for teachers; and A- for diversity and administration.

Harriton got A+ in academics, teachers, and college prep; A in clubs and activities; A- in administration; and B in diversity.
