Lower Merion Schools Staying Closed Through April 10

While Gov. Tom Wolf said schools will be closed through April 6, the Lower Merion School District said it plans to open April 13.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Gov. Tom Wolf said all Pennsylvania schools are set to reopen on April 6, but Lower Merion School District schools will open a bit later during the new coronavirus outbreak, known as COVID-19.

The district said it will open its schools on Monday, April 13 depending on how the local outbreak of the virus goes.

Students can get free meals on Mondays and Wednesdays in Suburban Square until then. Meals will not be distributed April 6 and April 8, however.

Principals and teachers will contact district families with further remote learning instructions.

As of March 23, Lower Merion Township has 35 cases of the new coronavirus. Narberth has one case.

Montgomery County overall has 135 active positive cases.

A 72-year-old man from Abington died from the virus recently.
